It’s December. And if you live with me, it means all things Christmas. We’re not picky round these parts: Rudolph, Santa, Frosty, the Grinch, and even Jack Frost can all hang out at our place. We love cookies, festive drinks, cheesy Christmas carols, and of course, advent calendars. I have a secret Pinterest board almost exclusively dedicated to advent calendars. I think it’s the deprived kid in me who thinks that the idea of a treat every. single. day. leading up to Christmas is like the best. thing. ever.
So, in honour of my delusional deprived inner child, I made an advent calendar for my not-so-deprived real life child. I fell in love with the Winter Wonderland Advent Calendar, from Gina at Willowday and I am totally thrilled with the results. She even includes handy templates, which, for an angle-challenged individual, such as myself, makes everything sooo much easier.
I filled each little tree with a treat or two: nothing big, just enough to drive my daughter out of bed every morning and propel her directly to our dining room table where she spends about 10 minutes trying to figure out which tree will yield the best result!
The advent calendar took me three hours to trace, cut, glue, and fill, and all the paper used was stuff I had on hand (doesn’t everyone keep mounds of card stock?!?). Plus, I got to catch up on my Netflix. I call that a very big win!
Oh, and if you want to follow along as I Pinterest my way through the holidays, check out the post that started it all: A Very, Merry Pinterest Christmas!!
